Synergies
The VISION4FOOD project actively fosters collaborations and creates meaningful synergies with other relevant initiatives that share similar objectives and overarching goals. By aligning with these projects, we aim to enhance knowledge exchange, maximize impact, and drive innovation across the food systems sector.
Below, you can explore more information about the projects we are partnering with and the synergies we are building together.
FoodSHIFT2030
The EU-funded FoodSHIFT2030 project supports a citizen-driven transition towards a low-carbon, circular, and more sustainable European food system, including a shift towards more plant-based diets. Bringing together local governments, SMEs, NGOs, universities, and research organisations, the project promotes innovation to address food and nutrition security, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and strengthen urban-rural linkages. Through a network of FoodSHIFT Accelerator and Enabler Labs across Europe, the project aims to scale and replicate food system innovations that contribute to the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals by 2030.

EU Cluster for Food Traceability and Trust
The EU Cluster for Food Traceability and Trust brings together EU-funded projects working on innovative solutions to improve transparency, traceability, and trust across food supply chains. Established in 2024, the initiative promotes collaboration and knowledge exchange among projects addressing food fraud and consumer confidence through joint activities such as webinars and dissemination actions. By fostering synergies and cross-fertilisation, the cluster aims to support the development and uptake of more reliable and transparent food systems.

FoodClic
FoodCLIC brings together actors from politics, science and civil society to support the development of integrated urban food policies – i.e. policies that facilitate the accessibility and availability of healthy and sustainably produced food for all people and for vulnerable communities. Given the interconnectedness of food concerns with other (policy) sectors, FoodCLIC wants to ensure that urban planning always incorporates food considerations. The project supports the creation of sustainable urban food environments in eight city-regions, consisting of an urban centre and its surrounding rural (agriculturally used) area. These city-regions share the ambition of a food system transformation that is brought forward through the improvement of their urban food environments and the interrelated urban food systems.

FUSILLI
The EU-funded FUSILLI project supports the transformation of urban food systems towards more sustainable, healthy, and inclusive models. Bringing together 12 cities across Europe, the project fosters collaboration and knowledge sharing to help cities integrate food into their urban-rural agendas and develop innovative food policies and actions. At the core of the project are 12 Food2030 Living Labs, which act as open innovation ecosystems addressing all stages of the food chain, from production and distribution to consumption, food waste, and governance. Through these Living Labs and a broader knowledge community, FUSILLI aims to empower cities, policymakers, and citizens to co-create resilient and sustainable food systems.

ROSETTA
The EU-funded ROSETTA project addresses food waste generated by marketing standards that prevent “suboptimal” food products from reaching the market despite being safe and consumable. To tackle this challenge, the project brings together multiple stakeholders to develop and test sustainable solutions for alternative market access and food valorisation. Pilot activities across several EU countries will focus on sectors including fruit, vegetables, cereals, dairy, and meat. By combining laboratory and field research with life cycle sustainability assessments, ROSETTA aims to validate solutions capable of significantly reducing food waste while supporting more sustainable and resilient food systems.

REDESIGN
The EU-funded REDESIGN project will address the growing pressure on urban food systems caused by climate change, rising food insecurity and social inequalities. Many communities, especially vulnerable groups, struggle to access healthy food, while traditional food supply chains often overlook local needs and fail to support sustainable practices. As cities continue to grow, REDESIGN will develop solutions that better connect food production and consumption in ways that benefit everyone. To achieve this, the project will create food value systems that strengthen urban resilience, promote green infrastructure, and encourage active participation from local communities. Specifically, it will develop living labs that foster innovation in food production, policy and community engagement

CLEVERFOOD
The CLEVERFOOD project engages all sectors of society in transforming Europe’s food system, in line with key EU initiatives such as the FOOD 2030 Policy Framework, the Farm to Fork Strategy, the EU Bioeconomy Strategy, the European Urban Initiatives, and the Fit for 55 Package. Its goal is to build a fair, healthy, and sustainable food system by supporting projects, partnerships, and networks through a collaborative approach. CLEVERFOOD is structured around three pillars — Policy Labs, Living Labs, and Pan-European Public Engagement — which help mobilise society and drive food system transformation, supported by the creation of the FOOD 2030 Networks.

FoodDataQuest
FoodDataQuest (FDQ) will develop ground-breaking data-driven solutions through an integrated methodological framework that explores new private and public data sources, including data from “unconventional players” and non-competitive data. By leveraging data-sharing mechanisms, it will provide EU food chain stakeholders with enhanced insights and support the transition towards sustainable healthy diets. The framework will include guidelines and data collection strategies to drive food system transformation towards inclusive, sustainable, healthy diets within legal and policy boundaries. FDQ will co-create and test advanced AI- and ML-based solutions using a multi-actor approach, acting as a lighthouse for a fair, healthy, and environmentally friendly food system. Finally, it will engage citizens in industry’s data-driven innovations while balancing data openness with the protection of private and sensitive data.

SPECTRA
SPECTRA strengthen research and innovation capacities at AUTH in the fields of Water Quality, Food Safety, and Traceability, addressing climate-related challenges in Greece and the wider Mediterranean. By combining cutting-edge technologies (e.g. AI tools, advanced monitoring, and traceability systems) with hands-on training, academic and industry collaboration, and international networking, the project boosts scientific excellence and knowledge transfer. SPECTRA empowers researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders with innovative tools and skills, fostering sustainable practices, improving food and water safety, and enhancing Greece’s integration into the European Research Area.

EcoReady
The project seeks to ensure a sustainable and resilient food supply in the face of climate change by aligning future policymaking with the interests of European farmers and society. Central to this effort is the Observatory, a real-time surveillance system available as both a web platform and a mobile app. The platform will feature policy recommendations, contingency plans, and resilience strategies developed through 10 Living Labs. It will also provide continuously updated assessments and forecasts for the food system. The mobile app will empower citizens to actively participate in policymaking and engage directly with the scientific community, farmers, the agri-food industry, and policymakers.

SWITCH
SWITCH aims to transform European food systems toward healthier and more sustainable dietary patterns. Over four years, the project engages citizens, policymakers, researchers, and businesses across six regional hubs in Europe— Donostia and the Basque Region (SP), Gothenburg (Sweden), Montpellier (France), Rome and the Lazio Region, Cagliari and the Sardinia Region (Italy), Berlin and the Brandenburg Region (Germany) —to co-create and implement innovative solutions for sustainable food systems.
By integrating scientific research, digital tools, and community-driven approaches, SWITCH aims to redefine food production and consumption, making sustainable diets more accessible and appealing to all. The project also provides policy recommendations to support the EU’s climate and sustainability goals.

CUES
CUES addresses the urgent need for a more sustainable food system that benefits the environment, society, and the economy. The project aims to foster a Triple Change in the food system concerning culture, food value chain, and policy. To this end, CUES will pilot nine food system interventions and policy dialogues, actively involving consumers, food value chain actors and policymakers. A learning community and toolkits for behavioural change and communication will be developed to motivate 3 million consumers to make sustainable food choices.
