SWITCH project – Call for abstracts

The SWITCH project is inviting abstracts for the “Switch Journalism Award 2025”. This initiative aims at honouring journalistic excellence in reporting on sustainable and healthy diets. Deadline: 15 July 2025

The award seeks to recognise media professionals who are shaping public understanding of how food systems impact our health, the environment, and climate change.

Open to journalists from Italy, Spain, France, Germany, and Sweden, the award encourages submissions in the following categories:

  • Sustainable and healthy diets – Strategies and practices to promote eating habits that respect the environment and human health.
  • Food education and awareness – The role of education and communication in the food transition.
  • Innovation and digitalisation in agri-food systems – Innovative technologies and methodologies to improve food production, distribution, and consumption.
  • Food justice and accessibility – Inequalities in access to healthy and sustainable foods, and proposals for more inclusive policies.
  • Policies for behavioural change – Strategies to modify consumer food choices toward more sustainable options.

Applications are accepted from April 24 to July 15, 2025, via the official website, where full guidelines are available.

Winners will be invited to Pollica, a UNESCO-recognised community in Cilento, Italy, for a unique experience during the Mediterranean Diet Summit in November 2025. The immersive trip includes a roundtable with global food experts and changemakers focused on promoting sustainable food practices.
