VISION4FOOD project event in the Region of Thessaly
On Tuesday, April 28, the 2nd presentation event of the Region of Thessaly took place, within the framework of the project “Vision4Food-EnVISIONing an integrated quadruple helix and RRI framework for FOOD system transformation and regional innovation ecosystem enhancement”, with the participation of representatives and stakeholders of the agri-food sector.
The event was attended by the Administrator and the Administrator of the Agri-Food Partnership of Thessaly, Regional Councilor Mr. Grigorios Gountopoulos, members of Cooperatives and Producer Organizations, entrepreneurs, policymakers and other stakeholders, with the aim of exchanging views and strengthening cooperation in the crucial sector of agri-food.
During the event, the Challenges-Objectives of the project were set out in detail, a substantive dialogue was developed regarding the comparative advantages of Thessaly such as its geographical location, the know-how of the rural world for the agricultural production process, the PDO and PGI products, which are dynamically promoted by the Regional Authority, as well as the main challenges and problems faced by Thessaly such as the restoration of areas from bad weather phenomena, the sustainability of production, innovation, adaptation to climate change, strengthening the competitiveness of local products and the use of modern technologies. At the same time, the participants submitted proposals and innovative ideas for the promotion of local agricultural products, which will lead to the further development of the agri-food sector and contribute to the increase in per capita agricultural income in Thessaly.
The VISION4FOOD project aspires to be a dynamic mechanism for dialogue and planning, contributing to the formulation of policies and actions that will enhance the resilience and sustainable development of agri-food in our region. The aim is to exchange good practices for strategic improvement, such as Smart Agriculture, strengthening collaborations (producer networks), Branding of local products, and digitalization of the chain.
The Region of Thessaly, led by the Governor Mr. Kouretas, continues to actively support initiatives that promote cooperation, innovation and development, confirming its strategic role in strengthening the local economy and the agri-food sector.
