Methodology
VISION4FOOD is set to empower 5 diverse EU regions (in Finland, Spain, Italy, Greece, Poland) to strengthen their existing innovation ecosystems and move towards a “food systems approach” based on open and transparent governance models and structures (Food Innovation Platforms – FIPs).
Methodology Overview
Our project will develop a comprehensive, multi-phase approach to foster food system transformation across regions. Beginning with a Preparation Phase, we will profile the selected regions, assess their local innovation ecosystems, and identify key enablers and barriers for food innovation. We will also focus on integrating Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) principles to ensure sustainability and ethical practices in food systems.
In the Co-creation and Development Phase, we will explore governance models, co-define acceleration agendas, and build a toolkit that supports food system transformation. This phase will emphasize collaborative learning, with regional Food Innovation Platforms (FIPs) at the core, guiding local stakeholders to co-create solutions and strategies.
During the Transformation and Acceleration Support Phase, we will work with FIPs to identify regional innovation missions, assess their impact, and deploy them using RRI principles. These actions will aim to strengthen collaboration, enhance local economies, and address food system challenges.
The Evaluation, Mutual Learning & Knowledge Exchange Phase will ensure ongoing monitoring of initiatives, share insights, and foster cross-regional dialogues to promote best practices. This phase will also include policy advocacy to facilitate wider replication of successful approaches and impact at the EU level.
Lastly, our Knowledge Exchange Platform (KEP) will foster collaboration, with a repository of resources, training hubs, and communication tools, ensuring long-term knowledge sharing and synergies among stakeholders. Gender considerations will remain integral across all phases, ensuring inclusivity and equal opportunities for all involved.
